You play as the grandson of a legendary rider named Red. The story starts with the tragic encounter of a Wyverian girl named Ena entrusted with a Rathalos egg, as the story progresses the player faces many monsters who attack and destroy everything. Soon the player discovers that the hunter works with a mysterious group. The player escapes with Ena to get back Ratha and the player sees a gigantic worm-like creature come out of the pit and swallow a Rathalos. The player and Ena soon oppose Zellard who is discovered as the leader of the mysterious group. Who intends to destroy the world and create a new one. The game is about building friendships with monsters and fighting alongside them to save the world.
