The main character that the player control in the game is Max Payne. This version of the game is the continuation of its part 1 and in this part, Max has been put back in his previous job of NYPD Police detective. Max is on a mission to investigate a gunfight and he finds out a group of hitman called the cleansers has attacked the place. The Player is equipped with weapons such as sniper rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, assault rifles, and hand-thrown weapons. The player can maintain his health in the game by using painkillers that help him survive after injury. This game featured bullet time that slows the time and helps the player to dodge and attack the enemy.
